Today, January 11, will be henceforth recorded as the day of independence for the Principality of Southwater. Sovereign Prince Kalan Cameron de Sydvand signed and published a document declaring independence from the Alsann Republic.

The document’s first article officially declares Southwater independent and requests Alsann not to take military action against the state and to respect territorial claims. Southwater does anticipate some repercussions from the regional power however also believes relations will be largely respectful, albeit unlikely cordial.

The Notice then goes to establish Ibisca and the Swan Coast as its regions of territory, announcing also twin capitals. The legislative (and occasional executive) capital of Timber Cove is located in central Ibisca. The formal executive capital, Shag Island, is the westernmost point and only rocky island in the Swan Coast.

Southwater’s Notice of Secession announces the government’s structure in the third and final article. It notes the hereditary princely role of the Sovereign Prince alongside the legislature, Southwater’s Crown Council. The article also references the special duties and powers of the executive and legislature. Notably, their manner of operation is not described as it is intended to be the choice of the body.

The document, in full, may be found here. It is in the public domain as a published document of the Southwater government.
